Supply Chain Manager

Job Summary

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for planning and coordinating the supply chain activities related to purchasing, warehousing, and distributing of products and supplies. This position is responsible for forecasting based on demand to minimize costs, maintain inventory levels, and ensure product availability. The Supply Chain Manager must monitor and maintain supplier relationships to ensure good product quality and reliable supply.

Essential Function & Responsibilities

  • Manage activities related to purchasing, inventory planning, storage, and the receiving of coffee beans, beverage and baked goods ingredients, café equipment, and operating supplies. 

  • Analyze inventory and develop plans to increase inventory turnover, reduce waste, and support customer service. 

  • Negotiate pricing, shipping, and delivery terms with international suppliers, freight forwarders, and local vendors for ingredients, equipment, and operating supplies.  

  • Evaluate the ability of suppliers to ensure they meet quality or delivery requirements. 

  • Meet with suppliers, vendors, and freight forwarders to review performance, coordinate delivery schedules, and to discuss forecasted needs or changes. 

  • Collaborate with the General and Operations Manager, Food Service Manager, and Quality Control Systems Manager to develop supply plans and ensure supply levels align with demand and quality standards. 

  • Design or improve supply chain processes to optimize operational efficiency and performance. 

  • Forecast and track material and supply costs to support purchasing and budget plans. 

  • Evaluate and implement technology solutions to improve the accuracy of inventory tracking, storage management, and supply distribution. 

  • Follow in compliance with new or changing policies, standards, regulations, or laws surrounding supply chain practices.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications – Excel, Word, Outlook.  

  • Proficiency in Data base and inventory management systems. 

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate with others to achieve the organization's goal.  

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

  • The ability to use critical thinking skills to identify problems, provide solutions, and consider alternatives to problems. 

  • Sound judgement and decision-making skills. 

  • Strong time management and organizational skills.  

  • Excellent persuasion and negotiation skills.  

  • Knowledge of how supply chain decisions impact customer service and operations. 

  • Adaptability to changes in policies, procedures, and regulations related to food safety and supply chain practices.

Experience & Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or business administration. 

  • 5 years of experience in logistics or related supply chain functions. 

  • Health Certification is required. 

  • ServSafe Certification is required.

Physical Requirement: 

  • Be able to stand, function, and operate for extended periods of time. 

  • Ability to use a computer and other office equipment for prolonged periods of time.
