Job Summary
The Cashier is charged with the role of handling transactions of customers in a professional and friendly way, appropriately and efficiently. This position entails working with cash, credit, debit, and any other payment combined with excellent customer services. Cashier is one of the first touches of the organization and its customers, which guarantees a pleasant shopping experience and establishes a well-organized check-out system
Essential Function & Responsibilities

Welcome customers in a timely and polite manner as they walk in the establishment.

Receive and accept payments in cash, check, credit/debit cards, vouchers, or electronic payments.

Receive issues, refunds, credits, or correct change to customers.

Answer customer questions and give information about products, services, procedures and policies.

Help customers to find produces and address any complaints or concerns.

Sets or checks the prices of goods and services with cash registers, calculators or optical scanners.

Add money in cash drawers at start and end of shifts to check and make sure they have change.

Reconcile cash, sales receipts and transaction records to assigned shifts.

Makes process merchandise returns, exchanges, coupons, food stamps, and vouchers according to company policies.

Keep the checkout areas clean, well organized and stocked with additional cleaning done as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Good customer service and service-orientation.

Capacity to communicate effectively with customers, supervisors and coworkers.

Active listening and social perceptiveness to know the needs and concerns of customers.

Basic arithmetic and cash management competencies and good lifelong attention to accuracy and detail.

Capacity to work on point-of-sale (POS) and scanners among other retail networks.

Basic understanding of computer programs like Microsoft office and spreadsheet programs.

Capacity to operate under a hectic customer service environment.

Strong integrity, reliance and professionalism.
Experience & Education:

High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.

1 - 2 years of retail experience / customer service experience preferred.

Health Certification is Required
Physical Requirement:

Capability to stand for long durations.

The use of hands to handle cash, merchandise, and equipment.

Capacity to pull, carry and relocate light-to-moderate weight objects whenever there is a necessity.

Indoor capability to perform work in a controlled environment and interact with customers during the shift.
